Patshull Park Fisheries
Description
Patshull Park is a delightful water to fish. Set in the grounds
of Patshull golf club and hotel it is one of the nicest waters in
the area, it is primarily a trout fishery holding lots of good trout
and some decent size pike. Most seasons Patshull will throw up a
number of twenties and last season (99) produced a thirty. It is
a nice sized water at 86 acres with an unusual shape and depths
ranging from 2 to 20 feet. The water is usually clear but there
are snags dotted around different parts of the lake, it is also
a busy water during the pike season so it pays to get there early,
especially if you aim to fish from the bank. If you are boatfishing
the lodge opens at 7.45am for payment & punt access.
Tactics
Like most waters Patshull has its 'hot' areas, if you are bank fishing
then you won't go far wrong in fishing the far bank, opposite the
lodge. This is one of the popular areas so get there early! It is
also worth trying the boat platforms in front of the lodge or by
the bait-pen as [plenty of pike are caught here, including one of
23lb this season. If you are in a punt then its worth trying the
'lodge' bay, or around the hotel, here plenty of pike are caught
on trolled baits (dead or live), either fished under a float or
bottom bounced. At the back end of the season its worth trying the
shallows as often quite a few pike will have moved prior to spawning.
Drifted or suspended baits will usually catch some of these fish.
Lure fishing is not allowed.
Tickets
Patshull is a day ticket water open for pike fishing from Oct to
the end of Feb. It is £6 for two rods. Punts are £6
per day, electric motors are available and live baits must be purchased
on site @ 60p each, all available from the lodge.
