The high cost of today's fishing tackle together with increases in reported tackle theft makes insurance an increasingly necessary option. I have recently come across a useful insurance company that anyone thinking of insurance may find useful.
Most anglers I know simply add their fishing tackle onto their domestic policy, but a problem with this is that items related to boat fishing will not be covered. Items such as electric and petrol motors, fish finders etc. are classed as sailing equipment and most domestic insurer's refuse to cover them.
After a long search I came across a company called Bordengate Insurance Schemes who will insure anything to do with fishing from a single rod to a fully kitted out boat. At present I have insured all my bank and boat tackle with them . They are not cheap, to give you some idea, it will cost you £90 to insure £2000 worth of equipment but it does allow you to insure all your kit together and gives you peace of mind.
